The European Commission recently announced new rules to ensure that the €5.4 billion allocated to the LIFE programme is used exclusively to support the Commission in developing and implementing policies. Under the new measures, these funds can no longer be used for advocacy or lobbying activities.
Emma Brown, President of the Society of European Public Affairs Professionals, said: “The European Commission’s decision ensures the LIFE programme operates transparently and free from conflicts of interest. Prohibiting the use of these funds for advocacy or lobbying is crucial for maintaining the integrity of EU policymaking and fostering trust among stakeholders.”
